Commissioners Service
Commissioners Service
The Commissioners Service was founded in 1910 with the Boy Scouts as a volunteer corps of district and council leaders who help Scout units succeed by being a direct personal contact.
They coach and consult with adult leaders of Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, Varsity teams and Venturing crews to improve there programs. Commissioners help maintain the standards of the Boy Scouts of America.
Scouting happens because of Volunteers!
Each Unit should have a Unit Commissioner and our district is striving for a complete Commissioner service.
What it takes to be a Commissioner!
Commissioners are a direct contact service with youth and leaders, so we must set the example by being fully uniformed. We are proud of what we do and the uniform shows it!
•Have excellent people skills
•Have a Scouting background or be fast-track learners (really, fast track learners are great).
•Know and practice Scouting ideals
•Be prepared to visit your units
•Enjoy learning and problem solving
•Work with other dedicated scouters to really make a difference, because you will!
•Get continuing education which can improve your professional and personal life.
•Help contribute to the youth of America, our future, by bettering their program.

Etiwan Commissioner Service Update
As of May 13th the Etiwan District has 5 unit Commissioners and a new Assistant District Commissioner, Allan Rice. We have grown tremendously in a few months and we are half way to our goal of a full service.
When you see a commissioner please thank them for their service, they are serving you as a volunteer, not a paid professional. They serve Scouting because they love it.
